Tamás Sulyok: quality wines would not be produced without excellent winemakers
Without excellent winemakers, high-quality wines would not be produced from the most ancient grape varieties and from the most favorable vintages – stressed the President of the Republic Tamás Sulyok at the presentation of the Winemakers’ Wine Award in Budapest.
Wine is there in our literature, in our art, in the church liturgy – the head of state pointed out, adding: winemaking accompanies our entire history.
“The winemaker builds the country’s image, nurtures traditions, boosts tourism, strengthens the economy”
– pointed out Tamás Sulyok, noting: to see and understand the entire process of making wine is a prestigious job and a great knowledge, and the practitioners of winemaking are called to this.
The President of the Republic put it this way: “wine is a heritage, a mediator of the taste of the landscape, a keeper of its uniqueness, wine is a secret, a sacredness”.
He said that those working in the wine trade know pretty much everything. The winemaker is an experienced agronomist, skilled in gastronomy, and also knows and shapes people’s tastes.
