Banking services stagnate
Hungarian use of services provided by banks only grew 72 to 74 per cent last year according to a survey by GfK Hungária Piackutató Intézet. This rate is much lower than in Western Europe. Two-thirds of the adult population hold current accounts in banks and only 53 per cent have debit cards. 22 per cent of the adult population has some sort of loan to repay, which is almost the same percentage as in Germany. Electronic banking services were used by 7 per cent of the adult population in 2006.
