Seasonal market of cooked ham stable at HUF 12 billion
According to the Nielsen Retail Index, sales of processed meat were up by 4 percent in terms of value, while cooked ham produced stagnation in 2008. Sales of cooked ham totalled HUF 12 billion in the 2008 season. Average price remained around HUF 1,400. Private labels accounted for 29 percent of total sales in terms of quantity last year. Pre-portioned products accounted for 56 percent of sales in terms of value. The 401-2,500 square meter distribution channel accounted for 45 percent of sales in the pre-portioned segment, while hyper markets held another 33 percent. Traditional stores had a 43 percent market share in over the counter sales.
