Spar Austria keeps expanding
Austrian FMCG retailer SPAR realised gross EUR 14.64-billion sales revenue in 2017, 6.5 percent more than in 2016. The growth was driven by expanding existing shops and acquiring 40 Billa stores in Croatia. Last year the retail chain invested EUR 650 million in its network, which at the moment consists of 175 Interspar hypermarkets, 2,689 Spar and Eurospar stores, 210 Hervis sports shops and 29 shopping centres. In 2018 Spar Austria plans to invest another EUR 700 million in expansion.
