Southern expansion
In 2017 SPAR invested approximately EUR 50 million in Croatia. The CEO of Spar Hrvatska stressed that the investments would continue in 2018. At the moment the retail chain has 103 super- and hypermarkets in the country, employing more than 4,300 people. Probably one of the biggest projects next year is going to be the opening of a hypermarket in Rijeka, from a budget of EUR 23 million. At the same time Spar is also setting its feet in Albania: they entered the market in 2016 and opened 30 stores since then.
