Country pubs are closing one after the other
According to the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), there is a significant decline in the number of pubs and restaurants in Hungary. While in 2010 there were still 21,500 liquor stores, cafes and entertainment venues in the country, by last year this number had decreased by 45% to only 12,200. There are many factors behind the decline, which Kisalföld followed.
The owner of the Napsugár buffet, Zoltán Nagy, who operates his pub together with a grocery store, believes that pubs have lost their central role in villages and that communities are also disappearing. The operator revealed that it is difficult to maintain the business due to the lower profit margin, but they can still maintain the service by combining with the grocery store. They also adapt to the wallet with the price of a pint of beer, as it is offered for HUF 550, which means a lower profit margin in hospitality.
However, guests do not only visit Romanian pubs for drinks. Good company, and the place also functions as an intellectual workshop, for example, the idea for the tower clock of the church in Romania was born here. However, electronic administration and costly changes such as smoking bans are putting a heavy burden on pubs.
