Many online stores are looking for loopholes in terms of delivery
Domestic online stores must adapt to a new rule within one month, according to which it becomes mandatory to offer Magyar Posta as a delivery option. However, some of the market players are still not sure whether they will be affected by the change, and others are already thinking about how they could avoid the possible delivery obligation.
According to the law, as of March 28, all online stores must list Magyar Posta as the delivery service on their website. With this step, the legislator intends to increase parcel traffic at the state logistics service provider. The post office offers web stores two options: either they register and provide delivery within the framework of the universal service, or they conclude an individual contract with the post office, in which case they must take the packages to the post office.
Webshop operators who do not want to use the service of the post office use a trick to avoid the obligation. They plan to price their products above postal fees, making postal delivery less attractive to customers. However, the effectiveness of this tactic is questionable, since the post office imposed mandatory fees on registered customers.
