“Many retail companies would like to be in our place”
Péter Boros, CEO of COOP Győr Zrt. was awarded the Klauzál Gábor Prize. Q: Could you list the most important steps in your career? A: I started out as an agricultural engineer in 1968. In 1981, I went to Győri ÁFÉSZ and later became production director. In 2006, the company was transformed into Coop Győr Zrt. Q: How did you put Győri ÁFÉSZ back on track after the political transformation? A: We abolished the rental system and took retail into our own hands. Today we have 39 stores and generate a turnover of HUF 7 billion. Q: What are the challenges ahead of Coop Győr Zrt.? A: To keep our position against expanding discount stores and to strengthen our meat plant, since meat product import is on the increase. I think many retail companies would like to be in our place.
