The 2nd Sustainable Packaging Forum ended successfully
On March 10, 2026, the second Sustainable Packaging Forum was held at the Pasaréti Community House, initiated by the Association for Sustainable Packaging and organized by Marketing Art Kft. The aim of the professional event was for packaging industry players, researchers, corporate professionals and decision-makers to think together about the future of sustainable packaging solutions and to share their experiences on the technological, regulatory and communication challenges affecting the industry.
The participants were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Belina Károly, President of the Association for Sustainable Packaging and Professor Emeritus of Neumann János University, who emphasized the importance of industry cooperation and knowledge sharing in his opening speech.
In the first presentation of the program, Balázs Kugler, Project and Marketing Manager of Inno-Comp Kft., presented the biological path He spoke about the possibilities and practical applications of biodegradable raw materials, highlighting the innovative role of alternative raw materials in the packaging industry. Afterwards, Zsuzsanna Kertész-Káldosi, the professional director of the Association of Environmental Service Providers and Manufacturers, presented the expected effects of the European Packaging Regulation, PPWR, presenting the challenges and opportunities posed by the regulation.
As part of the morning program, a panel discussion entitled “Facts and misconceptions about the sustainability of packaging” was also organized. The discussion was led by Krisztina Bódi, CEO of Marketing Art Kft., who asked László Büki, founder and owner of BS Plastic Kft., about misunderstandings and industry experiences related to sustainable packaging.
Dr. László Aleksza, CEO of Profikomp Environmental Technology Zrt., highlighted in his presentation that the biomass-based circular economy offers significant opportunities, but that bioplastics only represent a real solution in certain applications. He stressed that the full life cycle management of bioplastics is crucial for the realization of environmental benefits.
After the coffee break, Ildikó Király-Nagy, CEO and owner of Zöldpolc eco-store, spoke about the packaging challenges of online commerce, presenting sustainable solutions that can be used in e-commerce.
Zsolt Gerendi, Secretary General of the Self-Regulatory Advertising Board, discussed the phenomenon of greenwashing in his presentation, emphasizing that sustainability communication must be based on credible and transparent foundations. Dr. Ferenc Ronkay, the material development group leader of Jász-Plasztik Kft., presented the possibilities of recycling PET bottle waste in the food industry through a practical industry example.
The conference was closed with a roundtable discussion moderated by Szilvia Mayer, quality management engineer at BS Plastic Kft. The panel participants – Dr. László Aleksza (Profikomp Environmental Technology Co. Ltd.), Gergely Hankó (KSZGYSZ), István Horváth (Holofon Co. Ltd.) and Eszter Kmetty (BS Plastic Co. Ltd.) – discussed, among other things, what conditions are necessary to strengthen the domestic circular economy in addition to the goals of the upcoming PPWR regulation.
The professional program The event was concluded with a sandwich lunch and informal networking, which gave participants the opportunity to further exchange professional ideas and build relationships.
