Lidl’s competition for students has ended successfully
The Lidl Magyarország SzelektáLOOK educational competition, which was announced by the company for elementary school students in April this year with the professional cooperation of the PET KUPA Association, has ended successfully. More than 1,700 entries from nearly 600 schools nationwide were received for the online knowledge test focusing on the topic of selective waste collection.
One of the important pillars of global waste reduction is the circular economy model, which prioritizes the longest possible lifetime of products instead of one-time consumption and recycling them as secondary raw materials at the end of the product’s life cycle. During recycling, the material of the waste is reprocessed, thereby reducing the amount of waste to be handled and landfilled, and less raw materials have to be used for the production of new products. However, an important condition for recycling is the selective collection of waste, the appropriate selection of recyclable waste, which is also important for shaping attitudes.
It is important to learn the ins and outs of separate collection as early as possible and to make practical knowledge a part of everyday life. Lidl Magyarország’s SzelektálOK educational competition for elementary and high school students was also meant to support this awareness raising. As part of the online knowledge test, the contestants had to answer 12 questions related to selective waste collection and recycling.
