Nestlé and Sustainable Business Academy’s regenerative agriculture training successfully completed
The first joint, gap-filling regenerative agriculture training course between Nestlé and Sustainable Business Academy was successfully completed, providing a comprehensive overview of the theoretical foundations and practical application of soil regenerative farming. The aim of the program was for participants to gain up-to-date, scientifically sound knowledge of key areas of the regenerative approach, and to take home immediately applicable solutions for their own farms.
The training was attended by 15 farmers who were able to learn from recognized experts in the field. Six of the participants were female farmers, which is a good indication that female professionals are also taking on an increasingly important role in the renewal of agriculture.
The training, which lasted for 5 weeks, introduced participants to the impacts of climate change on agriculture and sustainability trends, providing detailed explanations of the steps to maintain soil health and the practical foundations of regenerative farming, as well as helping them navigate the opportunities and challenges of generational change. The aim of the course was to provide knowledge and an approach that would simultaneously increase the resilience and long-term profitability of their farms.
“We are very pleased with the success of the course and that more and more farmers are recognizing the benefits of regenerative methods. Although Nestlé is currently active in the western part of the country with the LENs program supporting the regenerative transition, due to the effects of climate change, the topic is of increasing interest to farmers across the country who are interested in sustainable and profitable solutions,” said Anna Hőgyész, Sustainability Manager at Nestlé Hungária.
At the end of the program, participants received a certificate (registered in the Adult Education Data Service System) in accordance with the Adult Education Act after successfully passing the exam. The chair of the examination committee, Katalin Sipos, Director of WWF Hungary, highlighted: “It was very exciting to see the participants’ openness to the course material and their critical thinking about current agricultural practices. While environmental aspects often provoke resistance in agriculture, the young farmers participating in the training prepared high-quality analyses of the landscape history of their own land, the specific effects of climate change, and finally presented farm-level development plans taking into account the functions of soils and nature.”
Gábor Lévai, representative of the Sustainable Business Academy, added:
“The interest in the training clearly showed that there is a place for this training in the market. The participants also confirmed that regenerative agriculture is still barely present within the framework of public education, so we can speak of a real gap-filling program. The practical knowledge represented by the instructors is a prominent added value of the training, which is a key element of the entire training offer of the Sustainable Business Academy. own. We plan to continue, because there is both professional demand and farmer openness.”
Nestlé’s long-term goal is to promote the spread of soil-regenerating, climate-conscious practices in its supply chain. The recently concluded training, which the company plans to continue, was another important step in making regenerative agriculture more widely known and used in Hungary.
