Less pigs and more poultry were slaughtered in Hungarian slaughterhouses last year
About 2 percent less pigs and nearly 2 percent more poultry were slaughtered in Hungarian slaughterhouses last year, while cattle slaughter remained virtually unchanged, according to a report published on the NAIK Agricultural Research Institute’s website.
According to the report, 4,620 million pigs were slaughtered in slaughterhouses in Hungary, 84.9 thousand less than a year before. The live weight of the slaughtered animals was 542 thousand tons and the carcass weight was 437 thousand tons, which was practically the same as the previous year. Last year, exports were 35.6 thousand tons and imports were 51.5 thousand tons. (MTI)
