The summer was characterised by lowering pig prices
The Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) continuously monitors and publishes world trends in poultry and meat products. Their last report reveals that in the first half of 2010 10 percent more cut poultry was purchased from farmers in Hungary. Until the middle of August domestic chicken meat sales expanded by 18.5 percent. Pork export of the European Union increased by 12 percent in the first five months. Hungarian pork export also expanded. The abattoir entry price of slaughter pig in the ‘E’ trading category decreased by 1 percent in July (measured in euro). In the years before 2009 the production price of slaughter pig always peaked in August – this year prices started to fall already in July.
