Fazekas: the pig sector is a strategic area of agriculture
The pig sector is a strategic area of the Hungarian agriculture, which is also indicated by the fact that the sector’s support increased from the 6 billion HUF of 2010 to 17.1 billion HUF- the Minister of Agriculture said on Friday at a professional meeting in Budapest.
Fazekas Sándor pointed out at the Pig breeding conference at the 78th National Agricultural and Food Trade Fair and Exhibition that while the pig population decreased by 20-25 percent in some countries due to the pig crisis, in Hungary the pig sector grew by 6.1 percent and the performance of slaughterhouses increased by more than 5 percent.
