Flying their own flags, Part 1
According to Zsuzsa Laber, communications manager at SPAR Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft., the private label wine selection of retail chains varies by their strategy. – Red wine is more popular than white, rosé is coming up and sweet and semi-sweet wines continue to dominate. These consumer preferences shape our private label wine selection and our sales keep on increasing. There are nearly 600 different wines available in INTERSPAR hypermarkets; 95 percent of the complete SPAR wine assortment is Hungarian, private labels represent a 20 percent share. Most of the latter come from well-known wine regions (Eger, Villány, Szekszárd and Balaton). The Pincemester brand features wines of good price-value ratio, while SPAR Selection exclusively distributes certain wines of popular winemakers.
