Leclerc launches fairtrade private label
Leclerc has recently launched a new private label range called Entr'Aide. The range consists of 18 fairtrade SKUs (16 dry-grocery items, orange juice and bananas).
Leclerc has promised that its own brand fairtrade products
will be cheaper than branded fairtrade varieties. Leclerc says that
this will benefit both consumers and producers, as reducing the price
barrier to these products will make fairtrade an easier choice for
customers and will encourage the market to grow in a sustainable
way.
In addition to the private label range, Leclerc is also
committed to increasing other fairtrade ranges and plans to stock in
excess of 400 fairtrade SKUs in its stores by the end of 2008.
