Law proposal against Tesco in California?
Lawmakers in California would require the application of a vendor in case of alcohol. This step could drive out the Tesco supermarket chain from the Californian market, because only Tesco has self-service units in the state.
A bill was filed in California, that would make it mandatory that a seller must behind the counter in cases of selling alcoholic beverages – writes Reuters. Since in California, Tesco is the only chain, that has self-service units, the bill would be only pertain for Tesco. In California, 126 out of 175 Tesco stores are equipped with self-service cashiers, these stores operate under the name Tesco Fresh & Easy – reports [origo], after Reuters.
