The outlook for actors in the agricultural and food economy has worsened, but there may be producers whose situation will become more favorable
The assessment of the situation of the actors of the agricultural economy for the period between April and June 2022 was fundamentally influenced by the fact that fixed-price electricity and gas contracts are expiring one after another, so most of them are already operating their plants with significantly increased energy prices. The prospects were worsened by the rise in the price of input materials and feed due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, economic uncertainty, and the possible effects of high inflation: a possible decrease in consumption, or at least its transformation, and the further increase in the price of raw materials, Takarékbank and MKB revealed. From the summary of the bank’s analysts, which was prepared by interviewing the actors of the agrarian sector. There is still no need to fear food shortages or supply disruptions in Hungary, and the current situation may even have positive effects on some product lines, primarily through the reduction of imports.
