The sentiment of the American consumers has deteriorated
Consumer sentiment in the United States in August was worse than expected, according to the regular monthly survey of the University of Michigan.
According to preliminary data released on Friday, the index dropped to 92.1 from 98.4 in July. Experts expected a less deteriorating index of 97.2 points.
Among the sub-indices, the consumer expectations indicator for the next six months dropped from 90.5 points to 82.3 points, while the value of the sub-index reflecting the current situation weakened from 110.7 points to 107.4 points. (MTI)
