The American consumer sentiment deteriorated in June
The US consumer sentiment decreased strongly in June to a 21-month low, according to a regular monthly survey by the Conference Board’s Nonprofit Economic Research Institute.
The consumer sentiment index calculated on 1985 = 100 basis points fell to 121.5 points in June from the 131.3 points of May.
Among the sub-indices, the consumer expectations for the next six months was dropped to 94.1 points from the 105.05 points of the previous month.
The value of the sub-indicator reflecting the assessment of the current situation slipped to 162.6 points from the 170.7 points of May. (MTI)
