GfK’s German consumer sentiment index deteriorated in March
The consumer sentiment index for March deteriorated to minus 8.1 points from minus 6.7 points in February. The average of expert expectations included an improving indicator of minus 6.3 points.
Within the overall sentiment index, two of the three sub-indicators weakened. The sub-index of the propensity to spend in the household decreased by 3.8 points to 1.4 points, the expectation related to the development of personal income fell by 13 points to 3.9 points, while the indicator related to the cyclical expectation increased by 1.3 points to 24.1 points.
