Deterioration in consumer sentiment in the euro area and the EU as well
The mood among consumers in the Euro Area decreased by 0.6 points to -7.7 in October from -7.1 in September of 2015, missing market expectations of -7.35 and reaching the lowest level since January this year.
Meanwhile, consumer confidence in the European Union remained broadly stable edging down by 0.2 points to -5.7 compared to -5.5 in the previous month. Consumer Confidence in the Euro Area averaged -12.45 from 1985 until 2015, reaching an all time high of 2.40 in May of 2000 and a record low of -34.30 in March of 2009. Consumer Confidence in the Euro Area is reported by the European Commission. (MTI)
