New African swine fever outbreak points were discovered near the Romanian-Hungarian border in Romania
In Romania, the authorities discovered 15 more African swine fever outbreaks last week, two of them in the Bihar and Satu Mare counties near the Romanian-Hungarian border, the Romanian Food Safety and Veterinary Authority announced on Friday.
There are a total of 243 active focal points in Romania, located in more than half of Romania, in 27 counties, with a total of 147 municipalities affected. In a further 13 counties, the disease was detected only in feral pigs. According to the authority, more than 15,000 farmers have so far been compensated in the total amount of 441 million lei (91 million euros). (MTI)
