In Romania, the growth of retail sales slowed to 3.3 percent in the first five months
In Romania, according to raw data, retail sales increased by 3.3 percent in the first five months compared to the same period last year, the national statistics institute (INS) announced on Thursday.
Growth in the first quarter was still 5.2 percent, which slowed to 3.4 percent by the end of April. According to the value adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, in the first five months of this year, the volume of retail trade increased by 3.2 percent year-on-year.
According to the raw data, the increase is mainly due to a 5.1 percent increase in the sales of food, beverages and tobacco products, the sales volume of non-food products increased by 4.0 percent, while the volume of fuel sales decreased by 1 percent in the first five months of the previous year compared to registered data.
