Traditional markets have a rival: many people buy vegetables and fruits here
I agree that the culture of greed has spread here, but at the same time we have plenty of very positive experiences – Gábor Kövesdi revealed in an interview for Portfolio. We talked with the founder of the recently launched Hungarian Kisckstarter, i.e. Brancs, about the debut of the platform, the first successful projects, the factors affecting crowdfunding in the current economic situation, especially inflation, and possible international expansion.
Brancs started in mid-May. Do the experiences of the first quarter confirm your preliminary, quite positive expectations?
There were very positive experiences, and of course very negative ones too, falling flat on your face if you will. 3-4 months ago, our hypothesis was that the more projects there are, the more people we can attract, then based on the law of large numbers, the more ideas can be realized with crowdfunding in Hungary. But it was already apparent in the first weeks that the Hungarian market and especially Hungarian society are still very far from this. In our country, only 10-15 percent of society knows about crowdfunding, and that is very little. Our other negative experience was that we met many project managers who thought that they had no more responsibilities with the campaign, they would just sit back and the customers and the millions would come pouring in. Project managers should place an important emphasis on, for example, social media, keep in touch with the press and, of course, communicate with potential customers. Thus, at Brancs, we pay much more attention than before to finding project managers who agree to cooperate even during the campaign.
