Croatian tourism set a record: 7.2 million arrivals and 28.1 million guest nights in the first half of the year
Croatian tourism continues to show strong growth, according to data from the eVisitor system, more than 7.2 million arrivals and 28.1 million guest nights were realized in Croatia in the first six months of 2023. This represents a 6 percent increase in arrivals and a 2 percent increase in the number of guest nights compared to the same period of the previous year, reported the Croatian Tourist Association.
The Adriatic coast and the continental part are also popular
25.8 million guest nights were realized on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, which is 2 percent more than last year. On the continent, there were more than 1.1 million nights, which means an increase of 7 percent. 1.2 million guest nights were registered in the city of Zagreb in the first six months, which represents an 8 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
Growth among Hungarian tourists
The number of Hungarian tourists also increased: from January to the end of June, 170,000 Hungarian tourists visited Croatia, which is 5 percent more than last year. This resulted in 630,000 guest nights, which means an increase of 1 percent.
Most popular destinations and regions
Segmenting Croatia’s tourism results by destination, in the first half of the year, Istria (8.4 million nights), Split-Dalmatia county (5 million guest nights) and Kvarner (4.4 million guest nights) achieved the highest number of guest nights. Among the most popular destinations are Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Zagreb, Split, Poreč, Umag and Zadar.
Among Hungarian tourists, the Kvarner region remains the most visited, with 190,000 guest nights, followed by Istria with 145,000 and then the Zadar region with 90,000 guest nights.
