Record spending on Valentine’s Day in the USA
The average American spent USD 126.03 on Valentine’s Day – reported BIGinsight (USA); this constitutes an 8.5 increase from last year and is the by far the highest in the 10-year history of the survey. Retailers lured consumers with special restaurant menus, clothing items, and flower and chocolate selections. Couples tended to spend the most, men preferred buying clothes, jewellery, greeting cards and vouchers – they spent twice as much as women.
