There was a record harvest of corn this year in Békés county
Barabás Béla said that after harvesting 90 percent of the 98,000-800-hectare maize production area, the county average per hectare was 8.2 tons, and so far farmers have harvested 731,000,440 tons.
The Békés County Farmers’ Association has 70 members, who farm about 120,000 hectares and about one third of the county’s agricultural area. Their average from corn was also better than in the county at 10 tons per hectare, he noted. (MTI)
