This year’s Food avalanche brought a record crop
The Food avalanche programme of the Hungarian Food Bank Association and Syngenta helped more than 13 thousand needy people. On the fields of the 37 participating local governments and non-governmental organization a total of almost 170 tons of healthy food crops were produced, with the active involvement of more than one thousand people.
The essence of the The Food Avalanche programme is that Syngenta offered seeds for free in a value of several millions HUF and participants – with an on site professional supervision – produced potatoes, peas, sweet corn, cauliflower, onions, cabbage, peppers, and then gave it to elderly, needy, disabled people, living in the neighborhood and to the social institutions – Cseh Balázs, the President of the Hungarian Food Bank Association said.
