The winemakers of the Lake Balaton are building regional brands
The international premiere of the BalatonBor (BalatonWine) made of Riesling and bottled with a unified label will be on 24 October at the Milan World Expo. The BalatonBor may be the first example of the Hungarian regional branding – Kardos Gábor, President of the Balaton Kör association, the creator of the wine brand told MTI.
The President of the association incuding the winemakers and hoteliers of the Lake Balaton region explained that mainly the regions and the regional brands are competing on the international markets so in order to reach competitiveness it is essential to introduce these brands in Hungary. The local products are becoming more and more popular, but the European experiences show that these products can become more competitive only by creating regional brands – he added. (MTI)
