In the gaming market, Easter is one of the first major turning points of the spring shopping season; According to a recent study by REGIO Játék, the majority of parents buy gifts between 5 and 10 thousand forints, typically in the week before the holiday – the company told MTI on Monday.

According to their survey, the most common items in Easter baskets are sweets, toys and books, while the demand for the season is primarily shaped by creative, social and outdoor games.

The Easter package consists of several small surprises: sweets are the most common, and three-quarters of families with small children also include toys among the surprises. A book or storybook is part of the Easter gift in about every second family.

In Easter toy purchases, creative products are in first place, followed by board games, then outdoor and construction toys – they informed.

The average basket value for online purchases is 13,500 forints, and for in-store purchases it is 11,000 forints at REGIO Toys.

The survey also asked about the families’ Easter travel plans. 44 percent of those surveyed plan to travel during the break, and 92 percent of those with young children choose a destination in Hungary. 57 percent of travelers plan to spend less than 50,000 forints, and every fifth one plans to spend between 50,000 and 100,000 forints.

The majority of families (55 percent) plan a one-day trip, and 31 percent plan a 2-3-day trip, with Budapest, Eger, the towns on Lake Balaton, Debrecen and Nyíregyháza among the most frequently mentioned destinations.

The REGIO Game will be held from March 15 to 22. 1,360 parents participated in a non-representative survey conducted between 2011 and 2014, all raising children under the age of 14.
