Stratos Red Bull: a space mission
Colonel Joseph Kittinger, the legendary figure of Aviation, presents the Red Bull Stratos research program, aimed to collect data in connection with free fall, over the speed of sound.
Felix Baumgartner pilot announced on his New York Press Briefing his intention to broaden the boundaries of space. He will be the first crossing the speed of sound, using only the human body. Baumgartner, will be lifted by a helium balloon capsule to the stratosphere, to at least 36 500 meters. He will free fall in a total pressure "spacesuit" with a Mach 1.0 speed, exceeding 1100 km / hrs – before returning to Earth with a parachute . If the Red Bull Stratos mission will be successful, four world records will be set up and the collected datas will open new prospects in space security as well as major opportunities in aviation.
