Lidl Hungary received a prestigious professional recognition
Lidl Hungary has received a prestigious professional recognition: it won the Sustainable Future Award from the Hungarian Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSDH) in the Corporate Transformation category. This demonstrates Lidl’s commitment to sustainability, in the interests of sustainable development – e.g. for climate protection, HR Compliance, or making the food supply more sustainable – measures that permeate the organization’s operations were awarded.
The Corporate Transformation Award aims to recognize and widely showcase companies that are increasingly integrating the principles of sustainable corporate governance into their business operations. In doing so, they contribute to accelerating systemic transformations and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The award was given to Lidl Hungary based on the decision of a 6-member professional jury. The award ceremony took place at the organization’s business lunch on October 7.
Lidl’s commitment to sustainability is evident at every level of the organization and permeates its operations. As part of its sustainability strategy, the discount chain sets goals and implements measures in areas where its activities have the greatest impact on society and the environment. In its winning application, Lidl presented in detail how it has been working for years along strategic goals for sustainable development, focusing on its climate goals, the development of HR compliance and its commitment to creating a more sustainable food supply.

2024 was a particularly defining year for Lidl: it set ambitious goals, to achieve which it developed its operational processes, transformed its purchasing policies and paid special attention to the education of its employees. In the same year, the company committed to net zero emissions and entered into an international partnership with WWF to jointly find answers to global ecological challenges and develop a more sustainable offer for customers.
