Tesco fresh juices and smoothies in new, more environmentally friendly packaging
Tesco introduces r-PET bottle packaging on own brand fresh juices and smoothies. This means having 30% or 50% of recycled material in products’ packaging. This is the next step in the retailer’s commitment to reduce packaging impact on environment.
The chilled Tesco juices and smoothies are now available in a new, modified form. The change, though imperceptible to the customer at first glance, brings great environmental benefits. Bottles of 250ml and 1l are made of 30% recycled material, while 750ml bottles have 50% recycled plastic in their packaging. The r-PET material used in the production is a polyester made of used plastic packaging, mainly bottles of beverages. Thanks to this, the material used in the production comes from already processed waste, and is also suitable for reuse, to contribute to building so-called “closed loop” in packaging.
The change in materials used for Tesco juice and smoothie packaging means 9 tonnes less plastic per year in Poland.
