Profession.hu: turnover rate decreased at Hungarian companies

The rate of labor flow has slowed down at Hungarian companies, companies have been recruiting more cautiously in recent years, many employees would currently change, but their opportunities have narrowed further – the Profession.hu job portal told MTI on Friday.

The announcement highlighted that the proportion of employers that experienced a greater labor flow than the previous year has been continuously decreasing since 2023: in 2023, 44 percent of companies stated this, in 2024, 37 percent, and in 2025, 31 percent reported this. At the same time, however, more and more people indicated that there was no change at all in their employee base compared to the previous year, while the proportion of these companies was 22 and 23 percent in 2023 and 2024, while it increased to 31 percent in 2025.

The survey pointed out that the decreasing fluctuation is also due to employers’ more cautious recruitment, and employees also have fewer opportunities to change jobs, as the previous trend continued, the number of available positions decreased further, by 2.2 percent compared to the first eleven months of 2025 and 2024.

Imre Tüzes, Business Development Director of Profession.hu, emphasized in the statement that fluctuation continues to be one of the most important indicators of organizational health. To a certain extent – depending on the size of the company and the industry – it is useful, contributes to renewal, and brings a fresh perspective to organizations.

The announcement also mentioned that while the workforce movement affected the vast majority of companies in the past year, only slightly more than half of them have a staffing plan, and even fewer have a human resource management strategy.

There has been no significant change in recruitment practices, and the proportion of those who work with an established, fixed recruitment process has not increased, despite the fact that increasing efficiency is still a prominent HR professional challenge. It is also positive that more than two-thirds of companies measure and analyze the performance of their job advertisements at least occasionally, while three out of ten regularly, added Imre Tüzes.

Profession.hu is one of the most visited job portals in Hungary, with more than 1.5 million job seekers registered in its database, and an average of more than 2 million visitors visit the site every month. 9 out of 10 job seekers in the Hungarian job market are familiar with Profession.hu. According to their advertisers, 7 out of 10 positions are filled through Profession.hu.
