Prices augmented by 2.9 percent in February
According to data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), in February 2017 consumer prices were 2.9 percent higher on average than a year before. In comparison with February 2016, food prices increased by 1.9 percent. Sugar prices soared by 14 percent and pork’s price rose 10 percent. Seasonal product prices (potatoes, fresh fruits and vegetables) augmented by 4.9 percent. Poultry became 17.4 percent cheaper and eggs cost 7.2 percent less.
Motor fuels turned 19.9 percent more expensive. Alcoholic drink and tobacco product prices grew by 2.8 percent. Services were provided for 1.5 percent more. The price of household energy got 0.3 percent higher. Compared with January 2017, consumer prices were up 0.4 percent and food prices elevated by 1 percent /
