A precision milk production laboratory was built in Kaposvár
A so-called precision milk production laboratory featuring the most modern technical solutions for cow husbandry was built on the Kaposvár campus of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), the higher education institution informed MTI on Thursday.
In their press release, they wrote: as part of the 1.3 billion HUF project of the dairy company MATE and Fino-Food Kft., in the 341 million HUF facility, the animals can “rest on waterbed mattresses” and “satisfy their biological needs stress-free, according to their own biorhythms” with minimal human intervention. . The laboratory simultaneously helps promote the agricultural field, provide practical training for specialists, and produce the healthiest food possible – they noted, adding that the husbandry and milking system greatly helps in making decisions related to animal husbandry. Quoting MATE rector Csaba Gyuricza, he emphasized: their task is to introduce students to high-tech solutions in agriculture and to train specialists who possess this knowledge, because this serves the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture.
They can show results in a short time
According to the announcement, Linda Szommerné Egyed, managing director of Fino-Food Kft., said about the investment that the positive effects of the development can be felt even in the short term: the milk coming from the facility represents a higher quality than before. The company is committed to such forward-looking investments, because it achieves results that help make good decisions, contributing to increasing their competitiveness, he added. Bence Sziráki of the university, quoting the managing director of MATE Tangazdaság Nonprofit Kft., pointed out that the agricultural sector is facing a huge shortage of professionals. Robotization is important because it can save labor. MATE’s precision milk production laboratory operates with two animal breeders and a manager – the executive pointed out. According to the announcement of the higher education institution, the developments will not stop, according to the plans, a poultry performance tester and its own feed mixing plant would be established on the Kaposvár campus in 2024.
