Unilever to invest in food factory expansion in Poland
The FMCG food giant is investing over 100m zlotys ($27.5m) into the site, which it says is one of its “key production sites in Europe”.
Unilever is to further invest in a factory in the Polish city of Poznań.
According to the FMCG food giant, it is looking to introduce “advanced automation” and optimise “logistics processes” at the production site, Just Food reports.
The investment is set to cost nearly 100m zlotys ($27.5m) and includes plans to build a fully automated high-bay warehouse with a capacity of 9,600 pallets and a new dispatch hall that will serve as a loading and unloading hub.
Unilever said the main construction phase started this week and building works are expected to be finalised by the end of 2026. The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2027.
The multinational food producer said in a statement that the project involves redeveloping over “25% of the factory site”, enabling the “creation of a new logistics and infrastructure layout tailored to future operational needs”.
Przemysław Fejfer, Unilever Poznań’s factory director, said: “This investment is a significant and engaging endeavor for our factory and marks an important step in the site’s further development.
“We are creating an intelligent, integrated logistics ecosystem for the entire facility. By combining automation and process harmonization, we will enhance our efficiency and operational flexibility.”
He added: “This initiative will strengthen our supply chain resilience and enable us to respond even more effectively to our business partners’ needs.”
In 2023, Unilever spent “almost” 90 million zlotys (then $20.8m) at the facility to increase the output of its ramen noodles brands.
Earlier this week, Unilever confirmed it has sold UK snacks business Graze to German confectionery group Katjes International.
The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. The sale is expected to be finalised in the first of half of 2026.
It follows Unilever’s previous investment in the Poznań factory in 2023, in which it aimed to increase the output of its ramen noodles brands.
At the time, the food giant invested around 90 million zlotys ($20.8m) into the facility to add a new production line for its Knorr, Unox and Amino brands of noodles.
