Portugieser Summit: The anniversary winners are here
On April 23, the 10th edition of the international competition for wines made from the Portugieser grape variety was held, with entries arriving from 5 countries. The international jury evaluated the wines in four categories, and three Champion awards were granted.

The first Portugieser Du Monde International Wine Competition was established in 2013 to promote wines made from the Portugieser grape variety. This year, with the same aim, the entries competed for the tenth time.
The competition accepted entries in four categories: young Portugieser wines (vintage 2024); aged Portugieser wines (vintage 2023 or earlier); blends containing at least 50% Portugieser; and special Portugieser wines (white wines, rosés, sparkling wines, dessert wines). Out of the 62 entries, the best in each category were:
- Champion Award (young Portugieser wines): Szemes Winery Villányi Portugieser 2024 (Hungary)
- Champion Award (aged Portugieser wines): Jackfall Winery Gesztenyés Portugieser 2022 (Hungary)
- Champion Award (blends): Weingut Christine & Harald Schachl Schlosskeller 2023 (Austria)
A Grand Gold Medal was awarded to the Portugieser 2024 by Gere Tamás & Zsolt Winery, and in addition, the international jury consisting of domestic and foreign wine experts awarded twelve more gold medals to:

Beyond the gold medals, the jury also awarded 39 silver medals.
The award ceremony took place on April 26 during the Portugieser Du Monde Tasting Festival at the Magtár venue in Pécs, where the public could also meet the winning wines and their producers.
