Plus To Use Blockchain To Trace Banana Supply Chain
Dutch retailer Plus has announced that it will use blockchain technology to offer consumers information about its banana supply chain.
The project will be implemented by technology partner, Supply Chain Information Management (SIM), on bananas supplied by Fyffes.
The move will help Plus in mapping the entire chain of its Fair Trade bananas from Colombia. The retailer expects to roll out the feature by autumn of this year.
It aims to reduce the CO2 footprint in banana cultivation which involves various environmental challenges, ESM reports.
