Pistachios, chocolate, pasta – and hot dogs? Yes, the “Dubai hot dog” has arrived in Hungarian stores
Just when we thought the Dubai gastronomic craze was over and we were done with all the sweets made with gold, pistachios or chocolate, Darnó Hús took extravagance to a new level: it introduced the “Dubai hot dog” – with pistachios, chocolate and kadayif (Turkish vermicelli) dough – as Pénzcentrum points out.
The name of the product, inspired by luxury desserts, is not misleading: it is indeed a strange meeting of sweet and salty flavors, and what’s more, it is not a bonbon, not an ice cream, not a bakery – but a meat product. The Hungarian TikTok community reacted quickly, and based on the videos, the 250-gram, greenish-tinged hot dog costs 2,299 forints and is already available in some Auchan stores.
Reviews: “Not bad, but…”
The domestic opinion leaders could not pass by the novelty without comment either. For example, Dobai Aty, who specializes in special flavors, said:
“It doesn’t taste bad, but the sight and the thought make me want it.”
The testers of the Szeretem a chokit blog were also puzzled by the product: they thought it smelled like a regular hot dog, and the taste was completely average, “not even the best kind.” They finally tried to spice up the overall effect with Nutella and pomegranate ketchup.
Extravagant or overdone?
In recent months, Dubai chocolate has almost acquired cult status in the domestic market, followed by luxury ice creams, baked goods, and even sweet sandwich spreads – and now hot dogs have become the new terrain for bold combinations. However, it is questionable whether customers are really open to such an extreme hybrid, or whether they would rather stick with classic flavors.
One thing is for sure: Dubai hot dogs are no longer just an internet joke, but a real product in the refrigerated section – something everyone talks about, but few dare to taste.
