Nébih inspected sprayer inspection stations
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) paid special attention this year to the inspection of stations that perform periodic technical inspections of sprayer equipment. The targeted on-site inspections were aimed at ensuring that the stations were carrying out their activities in accordance with the provisions of the legislation and relevant standards. In five cases, plant protection inspectors imposed fines.

Nébih plant protection inspectors conducted on-site inspections at fifteen inspection stations from February to early July. The inspections primarily targeted stations that had previously performed technical inspections of more than 150 sprayers. Furthermore, based on feedback from producers and others, problems may have arisen in connection with their activities.
During the inspections, Nébih experts revealed several deficiencies
It often happened that the stations did not, or only partially fulfilled their obligation to take and preserve photos of the inspected plant protection machines – the conformity sticker and the identification plate – with date and GPS coordinates. In addition, at some locations, the damage repair equipment required by law was missing, or the existing equipment was not calibrated. It happened that the inspection of the machines – specifically the measurement of the spray performance of the nozzles and the evaluation of the measurement results – was not carried out in accordance with the relevant standards.
The authority found only minor defects at nine of the inspected stations, so no further action was necessary at these stations
However, at six stations, official proceedings were initiated due to more serious deficiencies. Of the latter, no fine was imposed on one station, but the station concerned had to correct or replace the errors and deficiencies recorded in the framework of the inspections by a given deadline. In the case of five inspection stations, the Nébih imposed a plant protection fine. In addition, it obliged the stations concerned to correct and replace the errors and deficiencies discovered. The fine for the five stations totaled more than 1,000,000 forints. The Nébih continues to regularly carry out on-site inspections, either with prior notification at the sites or without notification at the location of the inspections.
