Unprecedented collaboration: more than 6,000 homeless and shelter animals receive support
Auchan Retail Hungary’s national pet food collection exceeded all expectations: in two days, an unprecedented collaboration was created in Auchan stores for homeless and sheltered animals. On February 14-15, 261 volunteers and more than 100 four-legged helpers worked together at 24 locations across the country to provide as much support as possible to animals in need. The result of the joint work is outstanding: 27,281 kg of pet food and 1,311 kg of cat litter were collected in just two days.
The donors primarily helped with dog food, but many also thought about the difficult situation of homeless cats, so a significant amount of cat food and litter also arrived. Thanks to the donations, the impact of the collection will be much greater than planned: instead of the previously involved 40 organizations, a total of 50 animal protection organizations will benefit from the support. This will make the everyday lives of more than 6,000 animals easier.
The Ant Community Foundation, as a national umbrella organization, provided professional support for the collection this year as well, and Auchan Retail Hungary once again created an opportunity for customers to directly help animals in need.
