Baker Association: the baking industry is in a bad position
The bakery industry is urging the establishment of a support system similar to other food sectors, such as baking companies, after the sector’s reserves are depleted, the majority of businesses are unprofitable and sector profits are around zero – the Hungarian Baker Association’s chairman told MTI on Tuesday in Budaörs at a professional meeting.
Septe József spoke at the National Agricultural Chamber’s (NAK) Food and Drink Industry Roundup meeting dealing with the mill and baking industry, saying that the baking sector’s reserves were depleted and the cost-cutting opportunities had run out. About 6,000 workers are missing from the industry, including about 3,000 bakers. In addition, costs, such as wages and logistics, are growing steadily. (MTI)
