Baked goods end up in the bin the most often
16 October was World Food Day, and HonestFood celebrated this by conducting a representative survey.
The study revealed that 59% of Hungarians throw food away, and 23% waste quite a lot of food. From the latter group 70% are aware that they should be more conscious in this respect. 86% of respondents said they shop consciously because they want to save money, and environmental considerations only matter to every second Hungarian. According to HonestFood’s study, bakery items end up in the bin the most often (31%), and every fourth Hungarian throw away ready meals. Fruit and vegetables lose their freshness so much in the opinion of the respondents that they need to discard them, and 12% of them get rid of still edible dairy products. //
