The agrarian salad law is before the parliament
Minister of Agriculture István Nagy announced that the amendments to the agricultural laws serve to increase the protection of agricultural lands, support irrigated farming and reduce administrative burdens.
The head of the department drew attention to the fact that the agricultural salad law submitted to the Parliament includes amendments to 24 laws. It became necessary to carry out professional amendments, to coordinate regulations with other laws, and to implement technical clarifications based on the experiences of the past period. In addition, another goal is to promote the uniform application of law, in order to perform public tasks more efficiently, he added.
Among the changes, István Nagy highlighted the increased protection of farmland
One of the goals of the change is to encourage investors to implement brownfield developments. The new regulation also increases the land protection contribution and the amount of the land protection fine, he added, so that agricultural land taken for industrial purposes will have to be paid three times more than before. He explained that the irrigated areas represent a special value from the point of view of land conservation and water management. The government’s goal is to increase irrigated areas and maintain existing irrigated farmland. Therefore, it will be prohibited to use the agricultural land belonging to the irrigation community for other purposes. The exceptions to this are the investments that promote agricultural cultivation and those necessary for irrigation farming.
The minister also touched on the fact that the legislative package also contains changes and simplifications that reflect everyday practice
Thus, for example, the administrative burden of seed producers and fishermen can be reduced. In addition, the Agricultural Damage Mitigation Fund will be strengthened. This is necessary because, due to the extreme weather of recent years, the demand for damage mitigation benefits has increased significantly. Pursuant to this, in addition to raising the producer contribution and the equivalent national additional source, in the future, EU sources can also be involved in filling the fund, the head of the ministry listed.
