Tourists returned to Paris last year, but their number was still below the level before the coronavirus epidemic
Last year, more than 44 million tourists visited Paris and its surroundings, the Ile-de-France region, which is a 95 percent increase compared to 2021, but is still 13 percent below the level before the coronavirus epidemic, according to the statement published by the tourism committee of the region on Monday .
Tourism generated 19.6 billion euros in revenue in the French capital in 2022, which is 134 percent more than in 2021, but 10 percent less than in 2019.

Of the 44 million tourists who visited Paris last year, 24.7 million came from the country. They are followed by the Americans (2.4 million), the British (2 million), the Spanish and Italians (1.5 million), the Germans (1.4 million), the Belgians (1.2 million), the Dutch (871 thousand) and finally the Swiss (529 thousand).
