Gergely Pálmai: the vocational training system offers a career path for everyone
The vocational training system offers everyone a career path, from catch-up to talent management – stated the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation responsible for vocational training at the Szolnok Vocational Training Center on Wednesday.
In his welcoming speech at the national meeting titled Space Research as a Tool for Education and Training organized by the ministry, Gergely Pálmai said: the current period in vocational training is a career orientation period, and competitions help to provide career orientation as effectively as possible, such as the European Space Agency’s (ESA) CanSat competition.
According to his statement, the previous day, the Euroskills 2025 competitors were welcomed together with the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He added: the Hungarian team won four gold, two silver and five bronze medals, as well as five medals of excellence. The gold medals were won by talented Hungarian young people in the field of IT – he added.
As he pointed out, “if they can provide European-level representation for Hungary in any profession, as this is what happens in the Worldskills and Euroskills competitions, and these professions can touch children at such a level”, then it is conceivable how much the CanSat competition motivates children, where students build a satellite simulation the size of a soda can together, which is sent to a height of 1 kilometer by rocket, and they have to establish a live connection with the structure, carrying out real missions. This makes children dedicated, helps to bring talents to the surface – he added.
In the vocational training system, from catch-up to talent management, everyone is offered a career path – he stated, trusting that “uncut diamonds” will be found in the CanSat competition – with the aim of catch-up or talent management.
