Good days for palinka
Palinka sales in the HoReCa sector grew by 10 per cent in terms of value in the June 2006–May 2007 period. Total palinka sales in the HoReCa sector exceeded HUF 21 billion.
Palinka sales grew faster than the average rate of growth for spirits, which was only 6 per cent. Palinka remains the best selling spirit in the HoReCa sector, with a market share of 27 per cent in terms of value. In terms of volume, palinka holds a market share of 32 per cent. The most popular flavour in terms of quantity sold is still pear, with plum in second and peach in third place. Vilmos körte is the best selling flavour in terms of value, with a growing market share. The average consumer price of a litre of palinka was HUF 4 048 in the HoReCa sector in April-May 2007.
