Five million yen was paid for an Arctic Ocean spider
A record price of five million yen (13.7 million) was paid for the Arctic Ocean spider (Chionoecetes opilio) sold at the first auction of the season at a fish market in western Japan.
The 14.5 centimeter armored 1.24 kg of crab was caught in the Sea of Japan off the coast of Tottori Prefecture.
The Arctic Ocean spider was bought by a local shop.
It is planned that it will be sold to a Tokyo restaurant in the Ginza district – the local press reported. (origo)
